1. Fit: hinge vs fixed hook
Soundcore's hook has four positions; the joint between hook and pod changes angle so the speaker moves closer to or further from the canal and up or down on the ear. Shokz's hook is one shape. Both are the same retention system and both score 9 for fit security on our rubric; the hinge doesn't make the AeroFit 2 more secure, it makes it fit more ears. If you've returned a hook before because the pod sat wrong, the AeroFit 2 is the one to try. Weight is a wash: 10 g versus 9.4 g.
2. Sweat: IP55 and IP55
Identical earbud ratings. Shokz states its case is not waterproof; Soundcore doesn't rate the AeroFit 2 case either. Treat both cases as dry-only and wipe the buds first. There is nothing to choose here, which is unusual for two competitors and worth saying plainly.
3. Sound: LDAC vs dual drivers
Soundcore: 20 x 11.5 mm drivers and LDAC (Android only), a higher-bitrate codec. Shokz: DualBoost dual drivers with DirectPitch. Different approaches to the same open-ear problem, which is that bass escapes when nothing seals the canal. We score both an 8. If you're on Android and care about codecs, LDAC is a point for Soundcore; on an iPhone it doesn't apply.
4. Controls
Shokz: physical button plus touch. Soundcore: touch only. This is the OpenFit 2's clearest practical win. If you've ever paused a track by wiping sweat off your ear, you know why.
5. Battery, charging, price band
Per charge: 10 hours (AeroFit 2) versus 11 (OpenFit 2). Quick charge: Soundcore 10 minutes for 4 hours, Shokz 10 minutes for 2. Total with case: 42 versus 48. The AeroFit 2 case supports wireless charging; the OpenFit 2 case doesn't (the OpenFit 2+ does). At maker list prices when we checked, the AeroFit 2 sat well below the OpenFit 2; check the buttons for the current Amazon prices.
Where the AeroFit 2 Pro fits
The Pro is a different animal: the hinge swings the driver into the canal for ANC, then back out for open-ear listening. Bluetooth 6.1, button controls, IP55. The cost is 7 hours open (5 with ANC) and 10.4 g. It's the pick for someone who wants awareness on the road and isolation on the treadmill in one pair, and the wrong pick for someone who only wants the open ear.
